Kailash Kher is a household name in India and a rising star in the US and Europe, having successfully fused Indian folk music with pop. Kailash's soulfulness and spirit, combined with his earthy and rustic voice, has made him a huge hit across generations. He has won numerous awards and released hit albums in 2006, 2007 and 2009 combining his folk sensibilities with lyrics invoking Sufi mysticism and rock, electronic and funk influences. In 2008 Kher was invited to become a judge on the television series Indian Idol and in 2010 was a star performer as part of the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
